ENVR E-158C. Case Studies in Product Sustainability: Balancing Risks and Rewards

Effective leadership in sustainability requires us to make wise decisions that reflect careful thinking about the possible consequences, positive and negative, of either taking action or choosing not to respond. In this highly interactive course, students practice using tools to critically evaluate the consequences of action so that they can effect more sustainable solutions to critical environmental challenges. We examine three essential questions: how do we know what to believe, how do we know when a problem demands action, and how do we anticipate and balance the consequences of our actions? Theoretical discussions come alive in practical solutions developed through case studies and discussions with experts in industry.
