GSD Executive Education Course: Energy Simulation
This course explores the use of computerized energy simulation in pursuit of high-performance building design. Participants perform energy simulations in order to explore design issues such as building massing, fenestration design, envelope construction, and lighting. Topics include underlying physical principles, understanding simulation assumptions, time-saving strategies, and interpreting simulation results with an emphasis on translating the analysis into design decisions. Participants will also become educated consumers of energy simulation for HVAC design, LEED compliance, and improved building operations.
Instructors: Holly Samuelson, Assistant Professor of Architecture, Harvard Graduate School of Design; Diego Ibarra, Principal and Founder, EA Buildings, Boston, MA, and Santiago, Chile.
