Our Campus, Our World Series
Featuring: Richard Wrangham, Ruth Moore Professor of Biological Anthropology, on the role of cooking in human evolution (hint: it’s what “made us human”); Joyce Chaplin, James Duncan Phillips Professor of Early American History, on Thomas Malthus (what did the original 'malthusian' dine on?); Janet Beizer, Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures, on the culture of consuming leftovers (beloved fare of the modern university student, but taken to extremes in 19th century Paris); and Michael Brenner, Glover Professor of Applied Mathematics and Applied Physics; Professor of Physics, and founder of the popular Gen Ed Science and Cooking class, on rot (and its relation to food, of course… good food). Refreshments will be served in the Northwest Atrium at 2:30pm.
