A discussion of the work of the Forum on Religion and
Ecology by Mary Evelyn Tucker and John Grim.
This is part of a six part Smithsonian Forum series
titled:
In this century we have witnessed powerful forces in
politics, religion, technology, the environment and
other areas that have shaped the way we live and influenced
how people identify themselves, form personal identities,
and cope with diversity and difference. At the close
of this tumultuous century, we should pause to reflect
on these important developments, then turn our attention
ahead to envision the near future.
This timely course features leading scholars and other
leaders who critically explore some of the major forces
that have shaped societies. They examine cultural trends
(some good, some bad, some questionable) and consider
the implications of where humanity is headed. Through
their insights, it is possible to gain a deeper perspective
on ways to prepare for a new and unquestionably challenging
millennium.
