“Faith and Justice”
Festival of Faith
Cathedral Heritage Foundation

November 14–15, 2003


The Cathedral Heritage Foundation is sponsoring a colloquium on faith and the environment at the Cathedral of the Assumption (Louisville, Kentucky) entitled, “Faith and Justice,” on November 14–15, 2003. Parts of the conference are being co-sponsored by the Brown-Forman Corporation.

Stated objectives for the colloquium include:

  1. To provide a forum for members of the community to familiarize themselves with the environmental challenges facing the Kentucky and the world at large.

  2. To gain a better understanding of the environmental repercussions that our current lifestyle pose to the environment.

  3. To learn about inspiring organic farming and sustainable lifestyle solutions currently in development, and the challenges they face in achieving broader public adoption.

  4. To explore the teachings of the world’s major faith traditions on the subject of humanity’s relationship with the environment. Includes a focus on Native American traditions and their concepts of “sacred land.”

  5. To identify the ways we as individuals or members of faith congregations can collaborate with local, national, or international environmental organizations to make a contribution to the local or global environment.
