Center for Health and the Global Environment Special Lecture

John Mandyck, chief sustainability officer of UTC Building and Industrial Systems and the co-author of the book "Food Foolish" will be speaking about the hidden connection between food waste, hunger and climate change at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health.

According to Mandyck, hunger, food security, climate emissions and water shortages are anything but foolish topics. He believes the way we systematically waste food in the face of these challenges, however, is one of humankind's most foolish practices. During his presentation, Mandyck will explore the environmental and social opportunities that we can create by wasting less food, as highlighted in his book. Real solutions to feeding the world and preserving its resources can be unlocked in the context of climate mitigation. To learn more, visit
