FOOD DAY
A discussion about food and sustainability at Harvard and beyond.
Wednesday, October 26th at 8:30 p.m.
Phillips Brooks House Parlor Room
Interested in food? Environmental sustainability? Animal welfare? Workers' rights? Nutrition? Flavor? Want to try delicious homemade bread?
Join the Harvard Sustainable Food Project (SFP), one of Harvard's newest student organizations, for a celebration of good food and a discussion about what we can do to make food at Harvard better. Listen to speakers talk about the food system abroad and at Harvard and contribute to the discussion yourself!
In a 2010 report, HUHDS stated its commitment “to purchasing and operational practices and menu choices that sustain the health and well-being of the environment, communities, and the people producing and eating food.” The SFP is determined to push Harvard toward that goal and to bring more organic, fair-trade, humanely-raised, local, and freshly-prepared food to Harvard dining halls. By working with HUHDS, students, and dining hall staff, the SFP hopes to make Harvard's purchases better for the planet, better for students' health, more satisfying for kitchen staff to prepare, better for animals, and better for growers.
All Harvard undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and staff are welcome. Come and talk about food with us!
