A presentation from 2023–2024 Edward, Frances, and Shirley B. Daniels Fellow Jane P. Chang

As a Radcliffe fellow, Chang plans to address the research opportunity at the interdisciplinary intersection of microelectronics materials processing and physical chemistry, leveraging the studies and understanding of surface reaction controlled chemical selectivity in atomic layer etching to de-poison the catalysts, thereby realizing sustainability in chemical processing. Beyond sustainability, a potential broader impact of this work is to address the lesser-known yet serious fact that many catalysts are sourced from conflict-mined minerals, leveraging the rich literature and ongoing effort related to this topic at Harvard Kennedy School’s Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government and Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
