This will be an informal, dynamic conversation with Dr. Walter Willett about sustainable food systems, the planetary health diet, and how to effectively create change for public health. Dr. Willett is a Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, a world-renowned researcher, and an author. In the past few years, he has been the co-chair of the EATLancet Commission, a collection of 37 world-leading scientists investigating how to feed the future global population of 10 billion people the healthiest diet within planetary boundaries. The resulting EATLancet report and the planetary health diet that it promotes are redefining the scope and perception of what nutrition and sustainable food systems will look like in the coming years. This conversation will touch upon how he has achieved success in past endeavors, such as leading the ban on the use of trans fats, and how the next generation can navigate creating change despite the presence of strong contradictory stakeholders. The fireside chat will be followed by a Q&A with Dr. Willett and time to connect with other individuals passionate about food, sustainability, and health.
